Forward Osmosis

Forward Osmosis is the revolutionary process which uses a semi permeable membrane to separate water from dissolved solids and ions. The system uses the osmotic pressure difference between the feed solution on one side of membrane and a draw solution with a higher osmotic potential (i.e. higher TDS, higher salinity) on the other side of membrane.
Aquaporin Inside® hollow fiber forward osmosis biomimetic membranes use natural aquaporins to improve water reuse and concentration processes, with low back diffusion and using only osmotic pressure. Aquaporin Inside® offers HFFO2 and HFFO14 models for commercial applications. The addition of aquaporin water channels into the rejection layer makes the Aquaporin Inside FO HFFO2 and Aquaporin Inside FO HFFO14 capable of rejecting difficult contaminants and preserving valuable components
Advantages of Forward Osmosis (FO):
- High water recovery
- Low operational pressure
- Low energy consumption per unit of water recovered
- Low operation and maintenance costs
- Less fouling and scaling (High COD Tolerance)
- Ability to treat complex wastewater
- Modular structure
